The cycling trek from California to Louisiana has been accomplished
Posted by: | CommentsI am experiencing each day the transition of not having to get up every morning and cycle all day. Completing the cycling trek was a joyful feeling, because of the accomplishment of ‘hearing and obeying’ that which I believed The Lord had called me to do. After cycling 6000 miles in 2010, proclaiming, “The Holy Spirit Is Here”, I began sensing the leading of The Holy Spirit to continue obeying the Call. Again I had to hear and obey. I am highly blessed for surrendering to the leading of the Spirit.
Jesus said in the book of John 16:13 “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew it unto you.” Also read John 16:14-15. Though the physical trek is complete the spiritual trek continues. The Lord led me by the Spirit to lead a woman to Christ. “You are my workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10.
Eastbank Of Greater New Orleans
Posted by: | CommentsThe Eastbank of greater New Orleans includes portions of Jefferson Parish, which includes the suburb, Metairie. I am in Metairie, Louisiana, in the home of Mike & Mitzi Romero and their two exceptional daughters, Miriam and Marissa. Mike is a cyclist, as well as a husband and father. He saw my bike and trailer, and sought out the rider. We shared pleasantries concerning our interest in cycling long distances. After our conversation, he gave me an invitation to visit his home. Today I am blessed to meet his family. This blog is from the Romero’s home.
I completed the cycling trek from the Antelope Valley, California, to New Orleans, Louisiana, yesterday. I was very tired when I arrived downtown New Orleans, after being ferried across the Mississippi River. Calling my wife helped center me, because I had an eight hour cycling day to get to my destination. I talked to The Lord God off and on all night whenever I would awaken. Yes, The Lord is my Shepard. Mike is helping me clean my bike. So, I will say, ‘later’.
Cycling part of the State of Louisiana
Posted by: | CommentsI am enroute to Lafayette, LA. I am siting in a Taco Bell in Jennings, LA taking a few minutes to blog. Good for me, I need a rest from cycling I-10 Bridge into Lake Charles. This is a steep bridge, very narrow with no shoulder. There is a tree to three and a half ledge approximately tree feet above the traffic. There was no other way across the water so…..when there were no trucks coming I quickly put my bicycle and trailer on the ledge and cycled to the top. The top of the bridge was higher than any other structure around.
At the top a patrol car pulled up alongside me with lights flashing. Now, traffic was being held up behind him. “You are not to be on the bridge,” he stated and motioned for me to go ahead of him. I moved quickly to the bottom to make sure the officer’s concern for me did not impede traffic too long. Once off the bridge I shared with the officer, there was no other route across this body of water. He stated,”Fifteen miles away there is another way into Lake Charles.” We talked briefly and i cycled off thinking; I must always enjoy the journey and be responsible for my actions before God Almighty.
Everyday their are many decisions to make while cycling across country and seeking the face of God concerning making those decisions. I reflect on these scriptures along with others to help me stay focused concerning daily decision making: (Deuteronomy 31:6, 2Corithians 10:5,and Phillipians 2:5)
The Holy Spirit Is Here
Just A Little Update
Posted by: | CommentsIt has been weeks since I last blogged. I have been blessed and provided for with great love and hospitality. I am grateful to my Lord and Savior for the abundant life. I have visited Austin, Houston, Winnie, and Beaumont Texas, as well as,many other small towns I stopped in to merely hydrate myself and keep trucking.
I am in Vidor, Texas 50.6 miles from the border of Louisiana. Lake Charles, Louisiana is the first city I had family and close friends in, also Austin, Houston and Beaumont, Texas.

Sweetwater to Abilene
Posted by: | CommentsFrom Sweetwater, Texas to Abilene, is approximately 45 miles. I cycled those miles today. My first six miles of cycling this morning were challenging because I was cycling before daylight, with only the light of my bike. Upon arriving in Abilene, I rested for about 45 minutes, then began trying to secure a place for the night. The only place for tenting was now behind me. My practice is to continue forward unless stopping is absolutely necessary. The campground cost was $19.00, however, since I continued forward the cost escalated to $69.00. Out here I pray about almost everything. I must, because this is Kingdom business, God’s business, not my business.
After securing the last hotel before leaving the city of Abilene, I asked The Lord, why did I feel led to continue to this place? I am a wise steward. The Lord allowed me to know the reason. I met James hitch hiking and I ministered to him for over an hour. James stated, “I know God had you to come here for me, some things I had been reading in the bible were confusing. I was seeing it without understanding.” We talked at length until nightfall and both of us had to go our separate ways. As I cycled back to my room, I was at peace and felt joyful and blessed.
